The plot evolves around
the relationship of Harry Mitchell (Jack Thompson) with his gay son Jeff
(Russell Crowe). Harry wants his son to settle son with Mr. Right, as
he is looking to find a woman to marry. Jeff does in fact find a man that
he can settle down with, but his boyfriend is not ready to settle down
and is shocked that Harry accepts his son for being gay, while his own
parents are homophobic. While Harry finds a woman on a computer dating
service, she is shocked to find out that Harry's son is gay and that he
"encourages it." Disgusted, she walks away from him, and Harry has a stroke
and is thus confined to a wheel-chair and requires Jeff to take care of
him, while trying to convince his boyfriend that they have a future together. Papa is so sweet and understanding of
his son's preference to an extent any 25 year old son would find over
annoying. Still, he is an angel compared to homophobes. Harry's new girlfriend
exemplifies such a narrow-minded moron. The movie's hottie is Greg, Jeff's
potential boyfriend. He has some hang-ups from his bigoted parents, but
overall he is sweet and sincere. I'd love to have him as a part of my
family, and rehabilitate his damaged soul...................................................................................
