Matt is probably the most celebrated bodybuilder to never qualify as a
professional. Despite bringing a huge frame and nearly perfect genetics
to the table, he was unable to win the NPC Nationals in seven tries. Despite
his futility in his attempt to gain pro status he was as popular as any
pros and featured in as many articles and magazine covers as any pros
of his day.
As Matt is still in his 40s, he shouldn't be categorized as vintage. But, unfortunately,
he is one of those has-been bodybuilding hunks. He was a big and handsome
eye candy on every bodybuilding magazine in his prime 80s, yet he couldn't make it
to pro for some reasons, then retreated from the spotlight.
I used to buy magazines with Matt as a cover model
and get excited at night over his bulging
trunks. I was an high school kid then. Innocent days of my life...
